Average Joe’s these are not. Behold, five of the world’s most beautiful, innovative and downright awesome gyms.
1. NIKE WORLD HEADQUARTERS (BEAVERTON, OR)
The track at Nike’s world headquarters is serenely beautiful and made out of 50,000 pairs of recycled Nike sneaks. It looks like a lot of other corporate office complexes, but if you look closely (and have access) there is plenty for a running geek or footwear fanatic to see.
2. ALLEZ UP (MONTREAL, CANADA)
Allez Up has established itself as an elite indoor climbing gym located just a stone’s throw from downtown Montreal. A gathering spot for those who are passionate about rock climbing, whether they are long-time climbers, newly initiated or looking to get hooked! Hidden inside these massive, industrial-looking silos is an enormous and crazy-colorful rock climbing center.
3. DAVID BARTON GYM – LIMELIGHT (NEW YORK, NY)
David Barton gyms are notoriously kooky, and this one–housed in a former Episcopal church turned drug rehab center turned mega-nightclub (Limelight, anyone?)–is no exception. When DavidBartonGym opened in 1992, there was a focus on 3 things: 1. creating an exciting energy that affects one’s emotions and awareness 2. helping people get the body of their dreams 3. learning what every other “health club” was doing and then doing just the opposite.
4. WELLNESS SKY FITNESS CENTER (BELGRADE, SERBIA)
This triangular building seems to defy the laws of physics. But despite its über-modern feel, it was built more than 40 years ago. Sky has defined the Sky Wellness concept suggesting that place should be light and spacious so that visitors should be getting an impression of entering a cloud on arrival.
5. PADDLE INTO FITNESS (SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA)
Sun, sand, and surf… this outdoor fitness facility features the holy trinity for ocean aficionados. Recently, Gibree and trainer Jessica Matthews designed the first SUP Fitness program approved by the American Council on Exercise.
